2021 Holy Week Services: What to Expect

Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions and recommendations from the Archdiocese of Hartford, Holy Week services at SS. Isidore and Maria Parish will look slightly different in 2021. Here are some of the modifications you’ll experience:

Palm Sunday – March 27 at 4 p.m., March 28 at 8 a.m.,9:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m.

  • Palm Distribution: Following all weekend Masses at St. Paul Church
  • Holy Communion: Distributed at the conclusion of all Masses

Holy Thursday – April 1 at 6 p.m.

  • Washing of the feet: Excluded
  • Incensing: Excluded
  • Procession of the Blessed Sacrament: Excluded
  • Holy Communion: Offered DURING the Holy Thursday service only. Communion will NOT be made available after the Holy Thursday service so as to maintain the prayerful vigil that accompanies the Adoration of the Holy Eucharist.
  • Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: Immediately following the conclusion of the Holy Thursday Mass, the Blessed Sacrament will be in the tabernacle of repose for adoration until 10 p.m. at St. Paul Church

Good Friday – April 2 at 3 p.m.

  • Veneration of the Cross: To be signified with either a bow or a genuflection. There is to be no touching or kissing of the cross.

Easter Vigil – April 3 at 7 p.m.

  • Blessing of the Fire: Excluded
  • Congregational candles: Excluded
  • Renewal of Baptismal Vows: Included without the sprinkling of holy water
  • Holy Communion: Distributed at the conclusion of this Mass

Easter Sunday – April 4 at 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m.

  • Renewal of Baptismal Vows: Included without the sprinkling of holy water
  • Holy Communion: Distributed at the conclusion of all Masses
