Congratulations to parishioners Sean and Timothy Zdrojeski, the sons of Kara and Robert Zdrojeski, on receiving the prestigious Brother Celestine Medal at Xavier High School.
The Brother Celestine Medal is awarded yearly to Xavier students who, upon completing the past academic year, have an overall final average of A with no final average grade less than A- in their major subjects. The medal can be earned only once during a student’s four years at Xavier, making it a one-time tribute to sustained excellence. It is the highest academic tribute that the school bestows.
Sean and Timothy, both 17, are members of the Xavier Class of 2026 and were recently invited to join the National Honors Society for Science, English, and Social Studies.
“Xavier expects the best from our students, academically and beyond. These young men answered the call, balancing rigorous coursework, extracurriculars, and the high expectations set by themselves and this institution,” said Xavier Interim Head of School Nick Cerreta. “Their hard work has been rewarded, and they have rightfully earned their place alongside our previous Celestine Medal winners.”
The award is named after Brother Celestine Killigrew, a beloved history and religion teacher at Xavier in the early 1960s. Brother Celestine also coached the freshman soccer team and ran the school bookstore before tragically passing at the age of 25 following an automobile accident. This medal was created to honor his memory and to inspire the same dedication and passion for learning that Brother Celestine embodied.
“We are immensely proud of Sean and Timothy for their hard work and dedication to their academic pursuits,” said Father Mark Suslenko, Pastor, SS. Isidore and Maria Parish. “Their achievements are a testament to their commitment, faith, and the values we cherish in our church community. They inspire all of us and exemplify how faith and determination can lead to success.”
