SS. Isidore and Maria Parish is one of several faith-based organizations, along with representatives from the Town of Glastonbury, that came together in 2020 to form Glastonbury Links Together (GLT), a collaborative effort dedicated to addressing food insecurity within our community.
GLT supports three vital programs:
- The Glastonbury Food Pantry, through the purchase of food and non-food items
- A weekend backpack program providing food for elementary school children at risk of food insecurity
- Food and beverages for Welles Village Summer Camp, serving low-income K–12 children
The Glastonbury Food Pantry, located at the Riverfront Community Center, serves approximately 200 Glastonbury households each month. Through several grants awarded to GLT, the organization played a key role in the Pantry’s recent renovations. These improvements included new shelving units, large storage refrigerators, iPads for appointment scheduling, ongoing donations of food and hygiene products, gift cards to supplement client needs, and, most recently, the purchase of an additional refrigerator. The redesigned Pantry now offers a more welcoming and personalized shopping experience for those it serves.
In addition to its involvement with GLT, SS. Isidore and Maria Parish makes bi-monthly donations of laundry detergent and hygiene products to the Food Pantry, organizes collections through our Faith Formation families, and makes monetary donations. The Parish also supports the weekend backpack program for elementary school children.
If you would like to support this important ministry, monetary donations may be made to the HOPE Ministry, which focuses on addressing food insecurity. Donations can be made using the HOPE Ministry Donation Link or by placing an envelope labeled HOPE Ministry in the offertory kiosk.
