A Message from Father Anthony regarding the standardization of Mass stipends

In the interest of standardizing the Mass stipend (offering) throughout all the dioceses in Connecticut and Rhode Island, Archbishop Coyne authorized the amount of $15.00 for each Mass intention. This new standardization is effective January 1, 2026.

For those who have already requested a Mass intention in 2026 and paid the former rate of $20.00, we will be glad to offer a $5.00 refund. Please contact the office to request a refund.

In addition, Archbishop Coyne is allowing multiple intentions be offered at one Sunday Mass. We will offer this at 8 a.m. Mass going forward. If you have already requested an intention for an 8 a.m.Mass, we will not add any intentions at this time. Any 8 a.m. Masses that do not currently have a Mass intention will be eligible for multiple intentions.

Finally, we will be designating one weekday Mass as a “pro-Populo” (For the People), a Mass offered for all parishioners. These Masses will take place at our parish, St. Augustine Church, each Thurs. in Lent. No individual intentions will be taken for this Mass.
