Join your fellow parishioners on Divine Mercy Sunday – Apr. 12 – at 3 p.m. at St. Augustine Church, to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
According to the website Focus, “The Divine Mercy Chaplet is a deeply cherished Catholic prayer focused on invoking God’s infinite mercy for ourselves and the whole world. Rooted in the revelations given to Saint Faustina Kowalska, it is a prayer of trust, intercession, and atonement. Through the Divine Mercy, we ask for God’s forgiveness, healing, and grace for ourselves, the world, souls in purgatory, and those needing conversion.
This prayer emphasizes the unfathomable love of Jesus, particularly as revealed through His Passion and the cross. It is especially powerful when prayed at 3 p.m., the Hour of Mercy, commemorating the moment of Christ’s death.”
In a June 2002 decree, Pope (now Saint) John Paul II granted plenary and partial indulgences to the faithful who observed certain pious practices on Divine Mercy Sunday. He did this to inspire the faithful in devotion to the divine mercy.
