The next Parish Book Club meeting will be on Thurs, Jun. 11, at 1 p.m., in the education wing of the St. Paul campus.
The book selection is “Left to Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust” by Imaculee Ilibagiza. Synopsis: In 1994, Imaculee Ilibagiza’s idyllic life in Rwanda was ripped apart as the nation descended into a bloody genocide. Immaculee’s family was brutally murdered during a killing spree that lasted three months and claimed the lives of nearly a million Rwandans. Incredibly, Immaculee survived the slaughter. For 91 days, she and seven other women huddled silently together in the cramped bathroom of a local pastor while hundreds of machete-wielding killers hunted for them. It was during those endless hours of unspeakable terror that Immaculee discovered the power of prayer, eventually shedding her fear of death and forging a profound and lasting relationship with God.
A limited number of books will be available at the Welles-Turner Memorial Library, or they can easily be purchased at Barnes & Noble or on Amazon. If you need assistance getting a book, please email barbara.tyczkowski@gmail.com.
